For the first time in the Philippines, Open Doors organized one big Shockwave event last March 1, 2013 in Grace of Life City Church International in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. Attended by 200 youths from different churches, groups and denominations, the Filipino youth was able to join the world in making waves of prayer for the persecuted church!
This year’s theme focused on the plight of our brothers and sisters in Christ living in restriction for following Jesus in China and Nigeria. China, dropping significantly in the 2013 World Watch List at #37 from being #21 last year, gives more and more freedom to the church, but still has tight control in some areas. Nigeria, still at the #13 spot for 2 years now since 2011, experiences more and more violence especially in the northern part of the country. Through Shockwave 2013, Open Doors gave updates and specific prayer points and led the youth in intercession for these nations.
Shockwave 2013 also launched the newest member and ministry of Open Doors Philippines- the Open Doors Youth Philippines or ODYP! Shockwave 2013 was their first project and hopes to organize more activities for the youth like fun runs, concerts, sports events and many others, all to raise awareness, prayer and funds for the persecuted church. The attendees were challenged to be part of ODYP, regardless of church affliation, denomination and group.

OPEN DOORS YOUTH PHILS IS A movement responding to the cry of the persecuted church. WE ARE a voice that tells their story, a group of walking billboards that unashamedly stand up for those who suffer. WE OFFER OUR TALENTS AND GIFTS TO GOD AND TO OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO NEED OUR HELP.
