Who We Are

"Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die..." Revelation 3:2

OPEN DOORS SERVES THE PERSECUTED CHURCH

Our ministry is focused on strengthening Christians across the globe who suffer because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

It all started when a young Dutch missionary, Brother Andrew, first travelled to then-Communist Eastern Europe to smuggle Bibles to believers in 1955.

Since then, our work has expanded from Bible distribution to training, socio-economic development, and advocacy programs.

We are currently operating in more than 60 countries.

IN THE PHILIPPINES

Our work in Asia officially started in the Philippines in 1975 with China as the main target country.

One of the major events in 1975 was the "Love China Congress", which was held in Manila. This conference focused on prayer and strategic planning for China. At the time, China was closed to the western world.

OUR PURPOSE

To strengthen and equip the Body of Christ living under or facing restriction and persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism by:
-Providing Bibles and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development and through intercessory prayer;
-Preparing the Body of Christ living in threatened or unstable areas to face persecution and suffering; and
-Educating and mobilizing the Body of Christ living in the free world to identify with threatened and persecuted Christians and be actively involved in assisting them.

We do so because we believe when one member suffers, all members suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26), all doors are open and God enables His body to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.

OUR CORE VALUES

1. We are part of the body of Christ; a people-to-people people.
2. We are persecuted-church driven.
3. We are people of the Bible.
4. We are people of prayer.
5. We live and work by faith.
6. We are devoted to Jesus Christ and His commandments.
7. We are motivated solely for the glory of God.

The Carving in the Rock

The process of engraving on a rock requires time and perseverance. It is the same with following Christ. Everyone who believes in Him is called upon to carry His cross daily. With both the Ichthus and Barbwire symbols carved on a rock, it symbolizes our dedication to persevere in our calling to serve the Persecuted Church no matter how long and hard it takes.

The Ichthus Sign
Persecuted believers of the early church hiding in Roman catacombs etched the Ichthus sign on the ground, to identify themselves discreetly to fellow believers. We have embraced this symbol, not only to identify with them in their suffering, but to serve the persecuted Christians worldwide through prayer and practical help.

The Barbwire
The barbwire evokes images of oppression often seen in prisons and labor camps. We are committed to help our brothers and sisters who are arrested and have lost their freedom because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Entwined with the Ichthus, it is a constant reminder that suffering will follow those who believe in Christ.

The Rock
In the Bible, God has taken "The Rock" as one of His great Names. In the Old Testament, He is the Rock of Ages – everlasting, strong and mighty. In the New Testament, Christ is the Rock and Chief Cornerstone, upon which His church is built, and from which the Spirit of life flows. He is the Center and Foundation of everything done in our ministry.
