HOPE IS ALIVE IN SYRIA AND IRAQ!
When the war in Syria started in 2011, Ferial and Ghandi, her husband were living in Aleppo. Everyone remembers how, after the fighting and destruction in Homs, Aleppo became the Syrian city that made daily headlines because of intense fighting and bombing.
When Islamist extremists set out to eradicate the church in the Syria and Iraq, you and other believers refused to let it happen. You stepped up and chose to fight the good fight of faith with them through your prayers and support. The church not only survived but continues to be centres of hope in the midst of crisis.On behalf of our brothers and sisters, thank you, they are so grateful for you.
“The situation in Syria is worse than before,” says Pastor Edward, Open Doors partner. “The economy has collapsed. The middle class is now close to starvation. We are in a devastating situation and people are trying to leave. Last week a family in our church left – and it broke us.”
The threat of persecution remains. Christians face economic collapse. Some are losing hope and leaving.
