INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH

“Arise, shine, for your light has come.”

Do you wonder how our brothers and sisters in Sub-Saharan Africa keep going, when their daughters could be kidnapped, their church leaders executed, their homes looted? 

The answer: prayer.

Gertrude (pseudonym), who lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, asked me to pass on a message to you. Her husband was murdered and her son kidnapped by Islamic extremists.

“I ask for your prayers,” she says, “because that is what sustains me.”

When the body of Christ unites in prayer, with courage and conviction, God’s Spirit will move. Believers like Gertrude will know they are not alone. The church in Africa will be strengthened and emboldened.
