At least 80 Christians who were taken on January 18, 2025 from three churches in Kurmin Wali, Nigeria have returned home.

Several local and international news sources report that at least 80 people who were part of the initial large group have returned home to their community in Kurmin Wali in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

The mass kidnapping of 177 Christians happened after armed men on motorcycles and on foot targeted three ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All) churches in the Kurmin Wali community.

The 80 Christians reportedly escaped and have been hiding in neighboring communities for two weeks before making their way home.

The Village Head of Kurmin Wali, Ishaku Dan’azumi, confirmed the development but shared that 86 people are still being held captive.

“We are appealing to the government and the military to expedite action to secure the safe return of the remaining 86 people still in the bandits’ camp,” Dan’azumi told PUNCH Online.

Please remain in prayer for the remaining 86.
